"Brittney Griner’s return to the court is an inspiration to our nation – and is a testament to her strength and courage," Harris tweeted.
On average, roughly 5,600 fans attend Mercury games, per Fox News. The team went 13-23 last season without Griner, who was arrested in Russia and charged with drug possession in February 2022.

Griner signed a yearlong deal worth $165,100 to rejoin her team earlier this year, months after President Joe Biden approved a high-profile prisoner swap with convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout to get her back in December.
As the No. 1 draft pick in 2013, Griner finished the 2021 season with an average 20.5 points, 1.9 blocks, and 2.7 assists per game. She also had a career-high of 9.5 rebounds per match. The center helped her team win the 2016 Finals.
