A Wisconsin Planned Parenthood is slated to halt abortions next week in order to avoid funding cuts outlined in President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill.”

One of the stipulations in Trump’s BBB was a ban on Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood facilities that provide abortions. The facility in Wisconsin is the first Planned Parenthood to do so, representing a victory for the anti-abortion cause.

Planned Parenthood said it is eyeing legal options to restore abortions.

“Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin will continue to provide the full spectrum of reproductive health care, including abortion, as soon and as we are able to,” Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin President and CEO Tanya Atkinson said in a statement, obtained by the Associated Press. “In the meantime, we are pursuing every available option through the courts, through operations, and civic engagement.”

The statement also said they were working to do as many abortions as possible between now and Tuesday — the law is slated to take effect Wednesday.

Planned Parenthood estimated that half of its clinics that provide abortions could be closed due to the Medicaid funding ban. The last Planned Parenthood facilities in Louisiana are set to close later this month.
