NextImg:Why do Democrats suddenly care about Epstein? - Washington Examiner

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on July 6, 2019, on federal charges for sex trafficking minors. While in his jail cell, he — allegedly — committed suicide on August 10, 2019. It’s been approximately six years since his death.

The Trump administration has botched the long-promised release of Epstein-related information. But Democrats acting as if they’re the knights-errant of Epstein’s victims is the bigger scandal.

Among the vociferous have been congressional Democrats, who, all of a sudden, are interested in the villainous and disgraced sex trafficker. Their conspicuous silence includes the period from Jan. 20, 2021, to Jan. 20, 2025. Merrick Garland was the Attorney General appointed by Biden and ran the Department of Justice. They had access to everything related to Epstein. The crimes were just as abhorrent and sickening then as they are now.

Yet it appears that, up until recently, the overwhelming majority of Democrats showed little, if any, interest in the Epstein files. That is, until the Trump administration walked back a campaign promise and created a public relations nightmare with such an unforced error. Only then did Democrats become interested.

Consider the comments by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, while being interviewed on CNN on Wednesday.

“If you see such a need to investigate this, why didn’t you raise it during the Biden administration?” CNN’s Pamela Brown asked. “We couldn’t find that you made any public comments about Epstein in previous administrations.”

She couldn’t find them because they didn’t exist. Brown knows it. Jayapal knows it. We all know it. Nevertheless, she answered.

“Well, I would have been happy to raise it then as well,” Jayapal replied.

Sure, congresswoman. Sure.

Jayapal then offered a Kamala Harris-esque word salad response, claiming she has consistently sought to hold all presidential administrations accountable for their sins. She mentioned several instances of allegedly doing so, but none of them had anything to do with Epstein. It was an attempted deflection, but, to her credit, Brown didn’t buy it.

“So then why didn’t you call for more transparency earlier, during the Biden administration?” Brown asked. “I’m just trying to better understand why you’re so intent on calling for this.”

Jayapal rambled on again but did not provide anything substantive. And we all know why. It is because until Democrats were able to weaponize the Epstein case against President Donald Trump, they didn’t care — or feared the files could damage their own or their political goals and agendas.

WHAT THE GOVERNMENT STILL WON’T REVEAL ABOUT JEFFREY EPSTEIN

It’s shameful and speaks volumes about their vulture-like tendencies. Once again, Democrats seek to exploit the tragedies of innocent people, in this case, sexually trafficked minors, solely for political gain. Jayapal is just one of many Democrats who are playing the American public. No one should believe anything she says or what Democrats are saying now regarding the Epstein files.

They’re liars, nothing more. Their silence from when Biden was president and Garland was attorney general is the real indicator of how little they cared about Epstein.
