White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre would not say Monday if President Joe Biden would sit down with singer Stevie Wonder to reaffirm his commitment to "the black agenda" heading into the new year.

The Grio's April Ryan pressed Jean-Pierre on a meeting between Biden and the Grammy Award winner and said that Wonder is "very concerned about the black agenda falling along the wayside."

Ryan specifically pointed to Biden's inability to secure new voting rights legislation, something he had promised to do on the campaign trail, and the Supreme Court's decision to ban affirmative action in college admissions decisions. She further noted that Wonder met with former President Ronald Reagan and was a "major impetus for getting the holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."

Jean-Pierre responded by saying that Biden takes the claims outlined by Ryan and Wonder "very, very seriously" but declined to preview any meeting between the two men.

"I also want to say that on the president's first day in this administration, he has taken this very seriously as it relates to what we're seeing. Why, as it relates to racial inequality, he called it one of the four major crises that we have to deal with as a country when he stepped into office," she continued. "We've met with civil rights leaders multiple times, the president himself and the vice president, as well, and have sat in rooms listening to them and listening to their concerns and also taking in their feedback.

"So we've taken this very seriously, very seriously. That's why we've taken the actions that we've had throughout the past almost three years in this administration. That's why we're going to continue to be vocal about the importance of making sure that we keep an open door of opportunity for communities," Jean-Pierre said. "I don't have anything to share about a meeting with Mr. Stevie Wonder, but obviously, this is something that both the president, the vice president, and also the first lady, takes incredibly seriously."
