The bulk of the 2024 Republican presidential primary field will square off for the first debate of the election cycle on Wednesday — but don't expect President Joe Biden to watch.
Biden is vacationing in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, this week but is traveling to survey the cleanup response to deadly wildfires in Hawaii on Monday.

White House principal deputy press secretary Olivia Dalton faced several questions about the president's vacation schedule during Biden's Monday flight from Nevada to Hawaii. In addition to his Western stay, the president has spent more than a week at his Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, home this month, even amid the devastation in Hawaii.
"I can't shed any light on how he's spending some valuable quality family time out here, but certainly he's been engaged on a daily basis and confronting some of these extreme events we're seeing," Dalton said when asked how Biden would be spending his time in Nevada.
"I don't know. I sure hope not," Dalton added when asked about any plans for Biden to tune in Wednesday night. "For his sake, but I don't know."
