Masks are back in the news, and even the president isn't immune.
President Joe Biden is wearing a mask for the next 10 days after his wife, first lady Jill Biden, tested positive for COVID-19. But he's drawing some controversy for less-than-perfect behavior when it comes to wearing it.

Biden also abruptly left the ceremony before it was over. That led to a lot of questions during Wednesday's White House news briefing, with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying all is well. She began the briefing by saying Biden tested negative for COVID-19 on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, though that didn't stop the questions.
"The president did wear a mask in the Medal of Honor ceremony, but then took it off and didn't put it back on," a reporter said. "Was that a mistake?"
Jean-Pierre said it was not.
"The president took off his mask, as I said he would, to deliver incredibly powerful remarks about this captain, Captain [Larry L.] Taylor," she said. "For a brief time afterward he also did not have his mask on, as you just laid out, and he left as was planned when there was a pause in the program."
The reporter was then asked if the president is "out of practice" with mask-wearing, given that the White House dropped its mask mandate in March 2022.
That also wasn't the case, according to the White House.

"We planned for the president to leave when there was a pause in the program so that it would minimize him being in the room," Jean-Pierre said. "He did just that. And I also would want to add that before the event started, the president spent a good amount of time with the captain and his family, and everybody was masked."
Biden has eight more days to follow mask protocols before he's free to go without one.
