NextImg:What is in the $95 billion foreign aid bills passed by the House - Washington Examiner

The House of Representatives on Saturday passed a $95 billion package that will provide aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan after months of standstill and tensions within the House Republican conference.

The four separate bills will provide foreign aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, and include a new measure to force the sale of TikTok after a previously passed measure stalled in the Senate. Notably, the measures did not include any border security provisions, an issue previously championed by House Republicans as a necessity for passing any aid to Ukraine. The House rejected a revised version of its signature border bill on Saturday separate from the foreign aid bills, that would have given U.S. border authorities tools to curb illegal immigration.

The foreign aid bills passed with a bipartisan majority, with most pushback coming from the hard right in the House. Here is what is in the four bills.

After months of stalled efforts, a bill giving foreign aid to Ukraine in its war against Russia was among the bills passed on Saturday.

The Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024, offers $60.84 billion in total aid.

The bill uses $23.2 billion for replenishing U.S. weapons and facilities, while $11.3 billion goes to current U.S. military operations in the area, and $13.8 goes to helping Ukraine buy advanced weapons systems and other weapons.

As Israel continues to fight in its war against Hamas in Gaza, the aid package passed by the House gives $26.3 billion in funds toward the war.

The bill gives $13 billion to defense funding for Israel, including $4 billion for the Iron Dome and David’s Sling defense systems, while also providing $9.2 billion in humanitarian aid to Gaza. It also provides $3.6 billion in security assistance.

According to the House Appropriations Committee, the legislation prohibits funds from going to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.

A smaller component of the foreign aid bills included assistance to defense in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan.

The Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024, provides $8.1 billion in aid and assistance to defending the region. The legislation provides $5.6 billion in deterrence and roughly $2 billion in military funds. Among the appropriations in the bill, it gives $542 million to help strengthen U.S. military capabilities in the critical region.

In the other bill passed on Saturday, the 21st Century Peace through Strength Act, the House included a provision that would force ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, to sell the platform or face a ban in the U.S., sending it one step closer to being signed into law by President Joe Biden.

All four bills passed earlier this weekend still require approval from the Senate and Biden, but are expected to be signed into law as early as this week.
