Former President Donald Trump said there are “a lot of good people” when asked about whom he might select to be his 2024 running mate should he win the Republican presidential nomination.

While speaking with Newsmax’s Greg Kelly about his 2024 vice president pick, Trump first said he doesn’t “like to think about it too much.”

“I’ve watched this for a long time,” Trump said. “There’s never been a vice president that’s done anything for the election. In other words, they vote for the one person.”

Trump acknowledged his former vice president, Mike Pence, saying he was “a very good vice president.”

“He did a good job until the end. I disagreed with him very strongly — I still do,” Trump added. “But I don’t think vice presidents have any impact at all on the vote.”

Declining to name anyone specifically, Trump stressed the importance of the position once elected.

“More importantly, it’s such an important position," he said. "If something happens, that’s going to be your president. That’s really the position, and we have so many great people.”

Trump also noted that he is disappointed with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) amid swirling anticipation of his own presidential bid.

“I am very disappointed in him because I’m a loyal person, maybe to a fault. I’m a loyal person, and somebody gets you into office and then you’re telling people, ‘Well, I don’t know if I’ll run against the president,’” Trump said of DeSantis. “A lot of people said loyalty doesn’t mean anything. Well, to me, loyalty means a lot.”
