Russell Brand blasted MSNBC as "propagandist nutcrackery" and went to war with one of the network's political analysts over its biases on Saturday.
"John, I've not known you long, but I love you already, but I have to say it's disingenuous to claim that the biases exhibited on Fox News are any different than the biases exhibited on MSNBC," Brand, 47, told John Heilemann, an analyst for MSNBC and NBC, on a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher.

"It's difficult to suggest that these corporations operate as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners," the actor and podcast host told Heilemann. "Just spiritually, if I may use that word in your great country, we have to take responsibility for our own perspectives. I've been on that MSNBC, mate, it was propagandist nutcrackery."
Russell Brand Calls Out MSNBC's Hypocrisy on COVID

"Do you want an example? The ludicrous, outrageous criticisms of Joe Rogan around Ivermectin deliberately referring to it as a horse medicine when they know it's an effective medicine!"@rustyrockets @billmaher @joerogan pic.twitter.com/5J0e0hkpSh
Brand discussed his 2013 appearance on Morning Joe and ripped into its production and crew, calling the whole experience "absurd."
The crew of the show failed to grasp the "basic tenets of journalism," and "no one was willing to stick up for genuine American heroes," he said before calling out the hypocrisy he sees at leftists calling out Fox News for its bias without mentioning the bias at networks such as MSNBC.
"To sit within the castle of MSNBC, throwing rocks at Fox News is ludicrous," Brand said. "Make MSNBC better, make MSNBC great again."
That quip and large audience applause appeared too much for Heilemann to stomach.
Russell Brand is ????????
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 4, 2023
"I'd like to hear a provable specific example of an MSNBC correspondent or anchor being on television saying something they knew was false," he challenged Brand.
"You don't actually know anything about any of these organizations you're talking about," he added. "You've been on MSNBC once, big f***ing deal!"
"My darling, it was more than enough," Brand replied before listing examples to respond to Heilemann's challenge.
He referred to the "ludicrous, outrageous criticisms of Joe Rogan around Ivermectin, deliberately referring to it as a horse medicine when they know it is an effective medicine" and to Rachel Maddow telling her audience that if they receive the vaccine, they will not get COVID-19 "when it hadn't been clinically trialed for transmission."
"Nonresponsive," Heilemann said repeatedly.

"You have to listen," Brand said. "Do you think you can improve America by determinedly and avowedly condemning Fox News without acknowledging that you're participating in the same game?"
Footage of Brand's remarks blew up on social media, receiving millions of views on Twitter, where Elon Musk reacted by tweeting, "Russell Brand is [fire emoji] [fire emoji]."
