White House press secretary <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/Karine-Jean-Pierre" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">Karine Jean-Pierre</a> is hosting a press briefing at the White House Wednesday beginning at 1:30 pm ET.

The briefing comes after <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/hamas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">Hamas</a> chief Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in Tehran,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/iran/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Iran</a>. The U.S. has <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/defense/3105581/us-denies-involvement-hamas-leader-assassination/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">denied</a> any involvement in the attack.

Israel has not taken public accountability for the attack but it is suspected the country was behind the killing due to its current war against Hamas.

Haniyeh had been a part of negotiation talks to secure a ceasefire in the region.
