White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will hold a press conference on Monday afternoon with National Security Council coordinator John Kirby.
The briefing comes after Kirby said on Sunday that the United States intelligence community was not aware of Hamas's plans to target Israel ahead of the Oct. 7 attack. A New York Times report detailed that Israeli officials obtained plans by Hamas more than a year before the attack that claimed at least 1,200 Israeli lives. The war has since reached thousands of fatalities combining both Palestinian and Israeli deaths.

Kirby said there would be a "time and place" for Israel to investigate what went wrong ahead of the Hamas attack but did not say directly whether the attack was a failure by Israeli intelligence operations.

Negotiations have stopped between Hamas and Israel after a recent ceasefire that ended on Friday. During this period, Hamas released over 100 hostages in exchange for Israel releasing around 240 Palestinian prisoners.
The press conference with Jean-Pierre and Kirby will begin at 1 p.m. EST.
