Four of President Donald Trump’s most controversial Cabinet picks are testifying in front of the Senate today.

Kash Patel

FBI director nominee Kash Patel is scheduled to testify at 9:30 a.m.

Patel, a devoted MAGA loyalist, will face grilling over his compilation of what critics call an “enemies list” of Trump foes.

So far, a majority of Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have either endorsed Patel or signaled they are inclined to support his nomination.

Tulsi Gabbard

Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard is scheduled to testify at 10 a.m.

Gabbard is one of Trump’s most unique Cabinet picks, having run for president on the Democratic ticket in 2020 on a platform critical of its establishment but ultimately endorsing former President Joe Biden. She grew increasingly disillusioned over Biden’s term, ultimately joining the Republican Party and campaigning for Trump during his 2024 campaign.

Gabbard has faced criticism for a 2017 meeting with former Syrian President Bashar Assad, her position that Washington bears some responsibility for the Russian-Ukraine war, and skepticism toward some findings of the U.S. intelligence community.

RFK Jr.

Health and Human Services secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to testify at 10 a.m.

Kennedy testified on Wednesday, facing blistering questions from Democratic senators on subjects varying from vaccines to processed foods.

Criticism toward Kennedy has largely been directed at his skepticism about vaccines. Much criticism has come from his own family; his cousin, Caroline Kennedy, sent a letter to the Senate on Tuesday, accusing him of animal abuse, leading other family members to drug addiction, lying, hypocrisy, and more.

If confirmed, Kennedy would be charged with leading 18 public health agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Russell Vought

Trump’s nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought, will hold his hearing at 12:00 p.m.

Vought previously ran the OMB during the final months of Trump’s first term. He has drawn flak for his previous support for budget cuts to Medicaid, the Education Department, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He’s also been criticized by the LGBT community for warning in private speeches of “transgender sewage that’s being pumped into our schools and institutions” and referring to gender transition surgeries as “chemical castration,” according to ProPublica.
