The Senate Finance Committee is holding a hearing on the confirmation of former Democratic Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley to lead the Social Security Administration.
President Joe Biden nominated O'Malley in July to run one of the most prominent social programs in the nation, serving around 70 million people who receive payments from one or more programs administered by SSA.

In previous Senate committee hearings, O'Malley has said he plans to lead the administration through a customer service crisis and focus on resolving long wait times. O'Malley served two terms as the mayor of Baltimore before becoming the 61st governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015.
