The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is holding a hearing regarding former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, who could be the next U.S. Ambassador to Israel.

It was announced in September that Lew was nominated by President Joe Biden, and Senate Democrats have been pushing for a speedy confirmation process since the Israel-Hamas war erupted on Oct. 7.

Some Senate Republicans have resisted Lew’s confirmation, targeting him for his role in the Obama administration’s Iran nuclear deal.
