The Senate is in session after the House of Representatives voted Saturday to pass a 45-day stop-gap bill that would avert a government shutdown on Sunday.
The House passed the continuing resolution 335-91, with nearly all Democrats and most Republicans supporting the bill, leaving it up to the Senate to pass the bill to avert a shutdown on Oct. 1.
