The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is holding a confirmation hearing for Jack Lew, President Joe Biden's nominee for U.S. ambassador to Israel, on Wednesday morning.
Several Senate Democrats have been aggressively pushing to confirm Lew since the terrorist organization Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7. Republicans are attempting to block the nomination over allegations that Lew has been soft on Iran, which has been indirectly tied to to terrorist organization Hamas.

Biden nominated Lew in September to become the top diplomat to Israel. If confirmed, he will take the place of former Ambassador Thomas Nides, who stood down from the post in July.
The confirmation hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time.
