


Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) will hold a press conference on Tuesday in Tallahassee, Florida, as Hurricane Idalia is expected to reach Florida on Wednesday.
Idalia grew into a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday morning and is supposed to reach the Sunshine State the next day. DeSantis has warned residents to prepare for a major weather event by stocking up on supplies, extending a state of emergency across 46 counties.

DeSantis will be joined on Tuesday by Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie, Maj. Gen. John Haas, and Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue.

He has held press conferences in several cities across the state of Florida, including Bronson and Largo.
DeSantis will begin speaking at 9 a.m. EDT time at the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee.
