Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and other California leaders will unveil their state redistricting plan around 2:30 p.m. in response to Texas Republicans’ partisan effort in their state.

According to his office, Newsom will make a “major announcement” alongside “grassroots advocates, state leaders, and members of Congress.”

Newsom is expected to call a special election in November to ask voters to consider Democratic-favored districts to counter the GOP’s effort in Texas.
