NASA is holding a news conference on Wednesday to discuss the latest plan to recover samples from the asteroid Bennu, which will return to the Earth through the spacecraft OSIRIS-REx in September.
The latest plan is for the spacecraft to deposit the samples from the surface of the asteroid in the Utah desert on Sept. 24. The spacecraft is not expected to land but will release a capsule over the Earth's atmosphere, which will then land in Utah, according to NASA.

The mission will help scientists investigate how planets formed, as well as improve scientists' understanding of asteroids that could hit the Earth.
The news conference is expected to start at 5 p.m. EDT time.
