President Donald Trump‘s nominee for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, former Rep. Mike Waltz, will face the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for his confirmation hearing around 10 a.m.

Waltz will face questioning from lawmakers for the first time since he was ousted as national security adviser weeks after mistakenly adding a journalist to a private Signal chat used to discuss sensitive military plans.

The hearing will mark the first opportunity for Democrats on the panel to grill Waltz about the national security blunder and his judgment to serve as a presidential Cabinet member, albeit in a lesser-profile role.

“I expect he will be asked that many times,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) said.
