King Charles III is delivering what’s called the “speech from the throne” in Canada on Tuesday, in a rare moment for the monarch.
The speech is set to begin shortly after 10 a.m.

The speech is the British monarchy’s first since 1977, when Charles’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, delivered the address. She performed the speech from the throne twice during her 70-year reign.
Charles is in Ottawa on a visit that Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney says will underscore his nation’s sovereignty amid President Donald Trump’s talk of the United States annexing its northern neighbor.
