Vice President Kamala Harris is speaking at the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church Quadrennial Convention.

The remarks are expected to begin at 2:15 p.m. EDT from the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The event comes as Harris is thrust into the spotlight by the White House this week, with President Joe Biden on vacation in Delaware.

Harris's brief trip to Florida also comes as she is in a battle with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) over black history standards in the Sunshine State. DeSantis sent Harris a letter on Monday inviting the vice president to meet with him in Tallahassee to discuss the standards.
