


House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is holding a press conference a day after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) canceled votes for the rest of the week following a failed rule vote on Tuesday.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. from the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The failed rule vote came after a group of Republican lawmakers, lead by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), joined Democrats in opposing an attempt to quash a vote on proxy voting for new parents.
Luna has pushed to allow new parents to vote by proxy, while Republican leadership has rejected her bill as unconstitutional, fearing it could lead to a further expansion of proxy voting.
