Senate Republicans will hold a press conference to discuss the Biden administration's handling of the crisis at the southern border as Title 42 is set to expire Thursday night.
Led by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), senators of the Senate Republican Conference will speak on how the border crisis will turn into a "catastrophe with the end of Title 42."

"Biden has presided over the worst border crisis in American history with a record-setting 5 million illegal crossings at the Southern Border," a press release states. "Senate Republicans have solutions to secure the border, build the wall, defund sanctuary cities, deport violent criminals, and stop dangerous human trafficking."
With the expiration of Title 42 — a pandemic-era policy that allowed border patrol agents to turn away migrants attempting to enter the United States to prevent the spread of COVID-19 — the U.S. is expected to see an unprecedented influx of immigrants that is likely to divulge into a humanitarian and security crisis.
Some Democrats and immigration activists have celebrated the end of Title 42, as they believed it prevents migrants from making asylum claims. Republicans have long opposed ending the policy, warning that without a mechanism to expel people immediately, more will come, and U.S. border agents will be overwhelmed and lose control of the border to migrants and cartels.
