The first day of the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/rnc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">Republican National Convention</a> began on Monday in Milwaukee, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/wisconsin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">Wisconsin</a>.

Delegates from all 50 states <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaigns/presidential/3083310/trump-officially-nominee-rnc-2024-republican-nominee/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">gathered</a> to certify former President <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/donald-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">Donald Trump</a> as the Republican presidential candidate.

Trump announced that Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) will be his running mate for the November election.

The convention started just two days after a <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaigns/presidential/3082215/trump-assassination-attempt-four-ways-change-november/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="">failed assassination attempt</a> on Trump.

The FBI said there have been no changes to the RNC security plan as it has found no “articulated threat.”

The convention will conclude on Thursday.
