President Joe Biden is holding a press conference to discuss his administration's most recent efforts to curb gun violence.

He is expected to announce his signing of an executive order enforcing gun control measures in California, following a recent mass shooting in Monterey Bay, where he is slated to give his address.

The order is expected to increase background checks, urge proper gun safety and storage among gun owners, and to strengthen law enforcement's ability to enforce regulations already signed into law.

"Combined with his previous executive actions and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, [the order] indisputably makes President Biden unmatched by any of his predecessors when it comes to a record of taking action to reduce gun violence," one official said of the order. "Now President Biden would be the first to say that even after today, there will be more to do to further reduce gun violence and save lives. He will continue to lead that charge and call on Congress to do the same."

Biden is known for his outspoken support for gun control measures, including banning assault rifles, which he is likely to push again.
