Biden and Trudeau <a class="Link" href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/immigration/us-canada-deter-border-crossings" target="_blank">announced earlier</a> that they had reached a deal to deter <a class="Link" href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/immigration">illegal immigrants</a> from crossing into the United States from Canada after a surge in recent months.

The trip to Canada marks Biden's first since becoming president more than two years ago and included bilateral meetings with Trudeau. Biden also addressed the Canadian Parliament while in the country, becoming the eighth U.S. president to do so.
