


The closing arguments for the murder trial against disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh that has spanned over the last six weeks are set to get underway on Wednesday.
Jurors visited the family's estate on Wednesday, where Murdaugh's wife, Margaret, and son, Paul, were shot and killed on June 7, 2021.

After both sides present their closing statements, jurors will be able to review about 800 documents, photographs, videos, and other evidence presented at the weekslong trial while deliberating on the verdict.

Murdaugh has been charged with murdering his wife and son in what prosecutors allege was an attempt to hide his personal and legal financial troubles. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as 99 charges relating to financial misconduct.
Closing arguments for the trial were scheduled to start around 11 a.m. by Judge Clifton Newman.
