Vice President Kamala Harris went viral more than once Thursday after attending Howard University's first appearance in the NCAA tournament in over 30 years.
Harris, a graduate of Howard, sat in a suite and watched the 16-seeded team fall to No. 1 Kansas 96-68.

The game was held at the Wells Fargo Center in Des Moines, Iowa, and when the vice president appeared on the video board, the crowd boos overpowered the applause, according to a report.

After the game, Harris joined the Howard players in their locker room and congratulated the team on their season.
"You played hard. You played till the very last second. You made all us Bison so, so proud," Harris told the players.
"You showed the world who Bison are," she added. "You know, I was at Howard back in the day where we were just happy that there was a game, much less getting to this place, right?"

Howard graduates are "all over the world" talking about what this year's team has done, according to Harris.
"You make us so proud," she said. "So, I know you may not be feeling great right now, OK? But you know who you are. You are excellence."
