Former Secretary of State and twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton blasted the idea of Republicans defending former President Donald Trump after his indictment, calling it "bizarre" and "sad."
Clinton addressed Trump's indictment and arrest while speaking with Pod Save America host Jon Lovett after he asked her about Republicans who claim she got off "scot-free" despite facing similar allegations.

"I do think it's odd, let's just say, to the point of being absurd, how that is their only response," she said. "You know, they refuse to read the indictment. They refuse to engage with the facts."
Republicans' refusal to see the truth is "nothing new," according to Clinton.
"What they refuse to admit is, you know, this is on a track about [Trump], not about anybody else," she said. "No matter how much they try to confuse people and how much they try to, you know, raise extraneous issues ... it's going to be fascinating, I guess, in a bizarre and sad way, to watch them spin themselves up."
Clinton pointed to recent conservative news programs as a prime example.
"Their efforts to defend this man are truly beyond anything that I ever thought possible in our country," according to Clinton. "I mean, it is so profoundly disturbing how this could have been the break."

Republicans could have used this latest indictment as an opportunity to separate themselves from the 45th president, she said.
"But no, they're all in again," Clinton said. "That's why the psychology of this is so hard for me to fully grasp."
