Former NBA star Enes Kanter Freedom blasted the NBA for hypocrisy concerning calls for social justice so long as it does not interfere with its business dealings.

On Tuesday, Chinese-based Ant Group announced it had entered a strategic partnership with the NBA that included collaborations surrounding video content, program broadcasting, and marketing campaigns.

Freedom slammed the business venture, telling Fox News host Laura Ingraham that the NBA has become “China’s lap dog.”

“It’s not surprising to hear that NBA is only trying to strengthen their relationship with China. I mean, it’s not a lie that NBA, at this point, is China’s lap dog. You know, they will care about the human rights and social justice until it hits their pocket,” Freedom said. “As soon as you say anything against the Chinese government or China’s human rights abuses, they’ll do whatever they can to silence you.”

“You know, what drives me crazy is the hypocrisy,” Freedom continued. ”They’ll talk about all the human rights violations or political precedences in America, but when it comes to China, they’re going to stay silent. That’s the one thing that just blows my mind.”

Kanter gave the example of previous allegations made against the Brooklyn Nets owner concerning support of the Uyghur genocide.

“I cannot believe that Adam Silver’s allowed him to have a team,” Freedom said of the NBA commissioner. “No wonder people that — I don’t have a team to play for. It’s just a shame because how can the biggest dictatorship in the world like China can control 100% American-made company and fire a U.S. citizen? That just blows my mind! And I have no answer to that.”
