Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, who served during the Trump administration, ignored send-off music that played at the end of his speech on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
Carson, also a retired neurosurgeon, talked over several minutes of music that began playing toward the end of his speaking slot.

Before speaking on the third day of CPAC, Carson said he was informed that his speaking time had been shortened.

"I just found out instead of 15 minutes, I only have 10 minutes," he began. "But I'm a surgeon, and I know how to cut."
However, Carson's speech was evidently not short enough for the organizers, who began playing send-off music during the former presidential candidate's remarks.
It's unclear as to whether he was unaware of the music or if he was purposefully ignoring it.
Some on social media criticized the organization for rushing him.
"I was not happy when the music came on & continued while Ben Carson, one of the smartest & wisest at CPAC, was speaking. #CPAC23," wrote one user.

Despite being rushed, his speech was well received by the audience, which issued him a healthy dose of applause.
