The U.S. Army is taking a page out of its 1980s playbook and bringing back a famous ad campaign.
'Be all you can be' was first used by the military branch in 1981 in commercials that aired during the New Year’s college football bowl games. The Army continued using that campaign with the familiar jingle until 2001.

Now, the slogan is back with an updated look in a series of new trailers that have dropped on social media.
"At a time when political, economic, and social factors are changing how young Americans view the world, the new Army brand illustrates how service in the Army is grounded in passion and purpose," Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth said. "Serving our nation is a calling, and one that is fundamentally hopeful. We want a new generation of Americans to see the Army as a pathway to the lives and careers they want to achieve."

“’Be all you can be’ is a phrase that has inspired many generations of Soldiers, and its promise still rings true today,” Army chief of staff Gen. James McConville said. “This is the message for the moment and for the future.”
The first phase of the revamped campaign will have a larger rollout during the 2023 NCAA March Madness tournament, which begins March 14, with a second phase scheduled for later this year.
