CNN's Anderson Cooper lampooned Tucker Carlson Tuesday amid the Fox News host's release of Jan. 6 footage, saying Carlson would have soiled himself if he had been at the Capitol during the riot.

"The idea of Tucker Carlson being in that mob that day and not wetting his pants is hard to imagine," Cooper told former Metropolitan Police Officer and analyst Michael Fanone. "I find it hard to understand somebody who has never put himself in harm's way in any capacity for anyone else or on reporting a story and, yet, has the audacity to try to rewrite history."

"That's what this is," Cooper added. "It's an attempt to rewrite history on what is one of the most consequential, you know, certainly one of the biggest events in American democracy, one of the biggest threats to American democracy."

Carlson has ruffled the feathers of Democrats and the left this week following his release of clips from a collection of Jan. 6 security footage given to him by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Critics of the release have chastised Carlson, claiming he is attempting to downplay one of the greatest attacks on the nation's democracy and system of government.

"Tucker Carlson is, you know, by his own admission, an entertainer, not a journalist," Fanone, who was assaulted during the riot on the Capitol, said. "On top of that, he's just proven himself to be Donald Trump's chief propagandist."

"That's all this was, and I think that most Americans recognized that, way before this segment aired, that this was propaganda, and it was an attempt by Tucker Carlson to downplay and whitewash the events of Jan. 6."

Carlson insists the release of the footage is intended as an act of transparency to reveal the truth of Jan. 6.
