A former Navy rear admiral testified before Congress that an email flagging concerns of unidentified anomalous phenomena was scrubbed from his email server.
Tim Gallaudet testified that the government is failing to be transparent about its intelligence on UAPs.
In his opening statement during the second congressional hearing on UAPs, Gallaudet shared that in January 2015, while serving as commander of the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command, he received an email from the operations officer of Fleet Forces Command with a now declassified video of an “unidentified object exhibiting flight and structural characteristics unlike anything in our arsenal.”
At the time, Gallaudet and his personnel oversaw a predeployment naval exercise off the U.S. East Coast, including the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group.
“The email was addressed to all subordinate commanders, and the subject line read in all capital letters: URGENT SAFETY OF FLIGHT ISSUE,” Gallaudet shared in his opening statement. “The text of the email was brief but alarming, with words to the effect: ‘If any of you know what these are, tell
me ASAP. We are having multiple near-midair collisions, and if we do not resolve it soon, we will
have to shut down the exercise.’”
Despite the concern, the exercise was not canceled, and Gallaudet shared that the email was wiped from his server the next day. In subsequent meetings involving the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group, there was no mention of the incident.
Gallaudet concluded intelligence agencies are gatekeeping information on UAPs from Congress and senior military leadership. This over-classification of intelligence poses a safety risk to public safety and military operations, Gallaudet claims, and he said it is a concerted effort “designed to discredit UAP whistleblowers.”
“The continued excessive secrecy surrounding UAPs has not only hindered our ability to effectively address these phenomena but has also eroded trust in our institutions and compromised the safety of both military and civilian aviators,” Gallaudet said.

Gallaudet called on Congress to mandate that key agencies, such as the Department of Defense’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, be held accountable for disclosing UAP intelligence that could affect national security.
The more than two-hour hearing included testimony from two former government officials and a journalist.
