CNN is getting a second chance in the world of streaming, thanks to some help from parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
The network's new shot at streaming will take the name "CNN Max" and feature a 24/7 livestream of content on WBD's streaming platform, Max. The new platform on Max comes after CNN's first attempt at streaming, CNN+, was shuttered in April 2022, less than a month after CNN+'s launch, according to a press statement from WBD.

"CNN Max is differentiated by having 24/7 news at its core from CNN, the leading global news organization, and being available on a scaled streaming service in the U.S., which has a significantly younger and additive audience compared to traditional TV," said JB Perrette, a WBD executive. "This provides even more quality choices for Max customers who will be able to easily catch up on what is happening in the world, particularly in moments of breaking news, all within one seamless experience."
CNN Max is intended to replace the CNN Originals section of Max and will launch on Sept. 27. In addition to its livestream, the new CNN section will feature original shows not available on cable television.

Subscribers of Max, including those who are subscribed to Max's cheaper ad-supported plans, will not have to pay any extra to access CNN Max.
The second attempt at a CNN with streaming comes after Max underwent its own rebranding earlier this year — it was previously known as HBO Max. The rebranding took place on May 23.
