Two Democrats and one Democrat-turned-independent are among the most unpopular senators in the United States.

Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) are three of the most unpopular senators in the country, according to a poll from the Morning Consult.

The revelation comes at a time when Manchin is at his most vulnerable point in his career. The centrist Democrat, who has been flirting with a presidential run, is facing an imposing challenger in his 2024 Senate election in the form of the popular Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV). Current projections have Justice winning in a landslide.

The news wasn't all bad for Manchin — he saw a 4% increase in his approval rating compared with the first quarter of 2023, according to the poll. His disapproval rating also declined by 7%. But this was driven by an increase in favorability among Republicans — who are far more likely to favor Justice.

Baldwin has one of the lowest approval ratings and highest disapproval ratings, at 44% and 42%, respectively.

Sinema's situation is less bleak — the desertion of the former Arizona Democrat to become an independent was met with approval from Arizona voters — especially Republicans. Her overall approval rate now lies at 42%, compared to 44% who disapprove. Surprisingly, she is most popular among Republicans — 44% approve and 44% disapprove of her performance. This approval rating is higher than among independents, where it's 38%, and among Democrats, where it's 42%.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) once again took the title of most popular senator, with an approval rating of 70%.
