President-elect Donald Trump’s most controversial promises on taxes, illegal immigrants, and punishing trade tariffs are being embraced by the nation as he prepares to enter the Oval Office for a second term.
Apparently eager to see the 47th president get off to a quick and successful start, huge majorities of voters have swung behind his 100-day plan to shake Washington up and deliver relief to the nation.
From his pledge to deport illegal immigrants to slashing $2 trillion in government programs and overlap, majorities of up to 86% are giving him a Trump-style thumbs-up, according to a national McLaughlin & Associates survey shared with Secrets.
“This survey clearly illustrates the popularity and the mandate for President Trump’s agenda,” pollster Jim McLaughlin said.
“The overwhelming majority of voters want to make the Trump tax cuts permanent as soon as possible because they are getting crushed by the Biden inflation and they need help. Voters understand that the Biden administration has destroyed our border security, and they support President Trump’s proposals to secure the border and jump-start our economy. Voters want relief, and they want it now, which explains why you even have some Democrats finally supporting the Laken Riley Act,” he told Secrets.
The support McLaughlin found should buoy Trump’s chances of success in Congress on his legislative agenda, which is expected initially to focus on economics.
For example:
— 82% favor Trump’s plan to end federal tax on Social Security for seniors.
— 71% back his plan to stop taxing tips.
— 70% want his tax cuts made permanent.
— 66% want federal taxes on overtime killed.
— 56% back Trump using international trade tariffs to get what he wants.
He is supported on other hot-button issues. Among those in the McLaughlin survey:
— 86% support deporting “known criminal and terrorist migrants” who have entered the U.S. illegally.
— 66% back deporting any migrant who entered America illegally.
— 74% favor requiring prescription drugs sold in the U.S. to be made in the U.S.

Separately, in a second survey for Tea Party Patriots Action shared with Secrets on Thursday, 71% said they support Trump’s creation of a Department of Government Efficiency to clean up and drain the swamp.
“These survey results highlight that Americans are united in their desire for a government that is transparent, accountable, efficient, and serves the people, not one that works against them,” the group said.
