


At least 100,000 Verizon users across the United States have reported being without service.
Verizon acknowledged the outage, saying in a statement: “We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.”
The SOS signal is appearing on phones in major cities such as Chicago and Atlanta.
“During the incident we received reports from Birmingham, Foley, Montgomery, Benton, Brookland, Des Arc, Fayetteville, Hot Springs Village, Washington, Dover, Apopka, Brandon, Cape Coral, Clermont, Crestview, Fort Pierce, Hollywood, Miami, Naples, Ocala and 652 other cities,” according to Outage.Report, which is tracking the outage.

Downdetector shows that the outage is most prevalent on the East Coast.
The outage comes as millions are experiencing power outages from Hurricane Helene, which ravaged through the southeastern U.S.
