NextImg:Vance deems Harris-Walz ticket ‘fake’ in criticizing vice president’s record - Washington Examiner

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) criticized the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential ticket with claims that “everything” about Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign is “fake.”

Former President Donald Trump’s running mate made his comments during a campaign rally in Michigan, a major swing state Republicans are seeking to win back this November. During the rally, Vance criticized Harris for having “fake joy” over being the presidential candidate when she has not used the power she already has as vice president to improve the lives of voters.

“It’s a fake ticket that never earned a single Democrat primary vote,” Vance said at the rally. “It’s a fake platform that offers no specifics about how to do the people’s business and a fake promise to change the government even though she’s been in charge of that very government for almost four years and hasn’t done a damn thing.”

The Ohio senator also questioned why Harris is waiting until she becomes president to address inflation and the cost of living. He argued that “day one was four years ago” when she became vice president. Vance then blamed Harris’s policies for being the reason families cannot afford to eat out and why people are struggling to raise their children.

Vance has been playing offense for the Trump campaign since becoming the GOP’s vice presidential nominee, and he recently began criticizing Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), as well. The senator has argued that Walz lied about his service in the National Guard and that he left military service before deployment to pursue his career in Congress.

Walz has since defended his military record during his first speech as Harris’s running mate, during which he argued, “You should never degenerate another person’s service record.”

He also thanked other veterans for their service to the country.

Both Vance and Walz have expressed enthusiasm for the vice presidential debate, which currently does not have a date. The next presidential debate between Trump and Harris is set for Sept. 10, which will be hosted by ABC News.
