A Virgin Australia Airlines flight was forced to turn around when a man undressed and ran down the aisle, according to a report.
An hour into a Virgin Australia 96 flight from Perth to Melbourne, one of the passengers undressed, ran down the aisle toward the cockpit, and knocked a crew member to the ground, according to the Guardian.
After the flight returned to Perth, authorities arrested a suspect, the report said.
“The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority, and we sincerely apologize to guests impacted,” a spokesperson from Virgin Australia said.
The report also quoted a passenger, only identified as Sterling, who said, “All of a sudden, I hear this running up the aisle, and the guy’s got no clothes on and he’s just charging towards the front of the plane.”
“Initially you think, God forbid, it could be an attack,” the 23-year-old mining student said. “It’s really distressing being on a plane in that situation.”
Sterling also said it was a passenger who restrained the man.
“One good Samaritan, this big guy in business class, jumped up straight away to intervene and then these two other guys later got up and tackled him to the ground,” he said.

Another passenger was quoted as saying that a passenger “suddenly went bananas running up and down the aisle and bashing on the cockpit door.”
A suspect was taken to a local hospital and is expected to report to a magistrate in June, according to the report.
