


University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill issued an alert of an armed and dangerous person on or near the campus Monday afternoon.
UNC-Chapel Hill Police released a photo of a person of interest in the active assailant situation. No name was provided.

The university issued an Alert Carolina at 1:03 p.m., asking people to shelter in place. The order is still in effect as of 2:24 p.m. and UNC-Chapel Hill said the suspect is still at large.
