Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country was under “Russian aerial terror” after the country sent hundreds of aerial bombs and drone strikes over Ukraine this week.

Russia has ramped up its aerial attacks on Ukraine in recent weeks, targeting infrastructure as the weather has gotten colder. In a social media post, Zelensky said that in the past week along, Russia has used “500 guided aerial bombs, nearly 660 strike drones, and approximately 120 missiles of various types against us.”

“No other country in the world has ever faced such attacks on a daily basis for such a long time,” Zelensky posted. “Yet, our state has stood firm. Our armed forces continue to fight the aggressor, our people are working for the sake of a strong Ukraine, and our partners support us.”

Overnight, 78 Russian drones were launched into Ukraine. Ukrainian forces shot down 32, and 45 were lost in flight, Ukraine’s air force said, adding that electronic countermeasures were the cause of the failure of those lost in flight.

When responding to a recent missile strike on Dnipro and a drone attack in Kherson, Zelensky said that these types of attacks happen “almost every day.”

The increased fighting came as the European Union’s new leaders, European Council President Antonio Costa and chief diplomat Kaja Kallas, traveled to Kyiv on Sunday to emphasize their support for Ukraine.

“In my first visit since taking up office, my message is clear: the European Union wants Ukraine to win this war,” Kallas said on social media.
