Ukrainian officials announced that they found components in Russian attack drones originating from India.

They reportedly found electronic components from Vishay Intertechnology and Aura Semiconductors in Shahed-136 drones and raised the matter with the Indian government and the European Union, the Hindustan Times reported.

“Unfortunately, we are detecting Indian-made components in Russian attack drones, including the Shahed/Geran models,” Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said Tuesday. “Russia must be denied access to foreign-made parts that enable these weapons and the killing of Ukrainians.”

This is the second time Ukraine has raised the matter of Indian-made components ending up in Russian drones. The first time occurred in April, when Ukrainian military intelligence said “a component made in India — a clock buffer from Aura Semiconductor — was found in a Russian weapon” for the first time.

The outlet also reported that Ukrainian government officials raised concerns with India’s external affairs ministry at least twice last year, and brought the matter up again last month with EU sanctions envoy David O’Sullivan.

The Shahed attack drones are of Iranian origin. Tehran provided hundreds of them to Moscow, which it has used in Ukraine. Russia has begun manufacturing these drones domestically, renaming them the “Geran” models.

The significant use of attack drones during the Russia-Ukraine war has been one of the primary lessons military leaders from across the globe have taken from the conflict, which has now gone on for roughly 3 1/2 years.

U.S. officials have long warned about Russia’s ability to use commercial parts from various countries without the knowledge of those companies in its drones.

The announcement this week comes as President Donald Trump and his administration have raised concerns about India’s support of Russia’s economy by purchasing Russian oil.

TRUMP ORDERS TWO NUCLEAR SUBMARINES REPOSITIONED AFTER RUSSIA THREATS

Stephen Miller, a senior Trump administration official, accused India of “financing this war by purchasing the oil from Russia,” while the president said Monday, “India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits. They don’t care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine. Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA.”

Indian officials said they had not made any changes to slow their purchase of Russian oil.
