


Two court security officers were stabbed inside the lobby of Manhattan criminal court in New York City in what officials said appeared to be a “targeted attack.”
The New York City Police Department said a man was taken into custody after charging at the officers around 9:35 a.m. The charges he may face have not yet been released.

One security officer was stabbed in the neck and the other in the face. A third officer was injured after being thrown into a barrier. All three officers are expected to survive.
“Several Court Officers immediately rushed to stop the assailant, subduing him near a bank of magnetometers, disarming him, and taking him into custody,” state courts spokesman Al Baker said in a statement.

Baker described the incident as an apparent “targeted attack” but did not share possible motives. He noted that an investigation is ongoing.
There are several high-profile cases associated with the Manhattan criminal court, including former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s trial, which just concluded, and Luigi Mangione’s state trial, in which he is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
