Two Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority workers were fired, arrested, and charged after being accused of leaking airport surveillance footage of the Black Hawk helicopter and American Airlines jet’s midair collision, which killed 67 people.
The video, which provided a new visual angle of the crash, appeared on CNN on Friday morning. CNN anchor Kate Bolduan said the footage “appears to be surveillance video from the airport.”
Employee Mohamed Lamine Mbengue, 21, was charged with computer trespass for “making an unauthorized copy of Airports Authority records,” according to authority spokeswoman Crystal Nosal. He was booked at Arlington County jail and released.
On Sunday, a second employee, Jonathan Savoy, 45, was arrested and charged with computer trespass. He was also released.
As of Monday night, no lawyer had entered an appearance for either man.
