Patriotic people of all stripes have plenty to celebrate after President Donald Trump completed the greatest comeback in U.S. political history Monday, once again taking the oath of office. On the flip side, if you are not a fan of the United States, or if you hold racial or religious animus toward a certain demographic, yesterday’s inaugural ceremony was almost certainly frustrating to watch.
“Nation” was the word used most frequently by the 47th president in his uncharacteristically short, 29-minute inaugural speech. After four years of a Democratic Party-controlled government shaming U.S. history and forsaking the people’s interests in favor of perverse DEI initiatives and dangerous foreign entanglements, Trump made it clear that there is a new sheriff in town.
The unpatriotic swaths of the political Left were subjected to their worst nightmare: aspirational language on restoring the U.S.’s greatness.
“America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before,” Trump said. “I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success. A tide of change is sweeping the country. Sunlight is pouring over the entire world, and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before.”
Of course, there are millions of patriotic Democratic voters, but Trump’s talk of restoring U.S. exceptionalism must have sounded like nails on a chalkboard to the “blame America first” crowd.
Trump’s promises to end illegal immigration, retake the Panama Canal, and return Mount Denali to its original American name, Mount McKinley, will give the folks who use Columbus Day as an occasion to practice their fainting goat impressions a few more reasons to pretend to be outraged on social media. Trump even dropped the iconic “drill, baby, drill” line when discussing the need to expand U.S. energy production, as if climate change-obsessed leftists weren’t already having a bad day.
It was not just the Left in the president’s crosshairs. The racists on the fringe Right had to watch Trump explicitly thank minority voters for their support in November.
“To the black and Hispanic communities, I want to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love and trust that you have shown me with your vote,” the president said. “We set records, and I will not forget it. I’ve heard your voices in the campaign, and I look forward to working with you in the years to come.”
Militant atheists were subjected to moving prayers by Revs. Franklin Graham and Lorenzo Sewell, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and retired Catholic priest Frank Mann. Antisemites received Rabbi Ari Berman, who spoke of the American and Israeli hostages in Gaza whose pain the president “acutely feels.” The inaugural ceremony was one gut punch after another to all of the most depraved and annoying corners of the nation’s political discourse.

After four years of turning a blind eye, at the very least, to the crimes and failures of the Biden administration, corporate media awoke from its slumber to whine about Trump’s speech and subsequent executive actions. However, former President Joe Biden’s frantic final 24 hours in office that saw him pardon Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley, and almost every member of his family made certain the whining of journalists would fall on deaf ears. Legacy journalists attempted to relive the good old days of calling Republicans “Nazis,” but with nothing objectionable in Trump’s speech, they resorted to defaming Elon Musk, Tesla CEO and Department of Government Efficiency leader.
Trump currently holds the highest favorability rating of his short career in politics, while the Democrats are left in the wilderness. A majority of people are optimistic about the future of the country, while the folks who disparage the nation or hate certain demographics based on race or faith are screeching into their favorite Chinese Communist Party-affiliated app (for now?). I would call that a successful Inauguration Day.
