White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump is just “trolling” about winning a third presidential term in 2028, but she admitted he is serious about acquiring Greenland and making Canada the 51st state.
Leavitt held a press conference on Tuesday that consisted of members of the “new media” — nontraditional media personalities with followings on YouTube and other social media platforms. During the briefing, Brenden Dilley, the host of The Dilley Show, asked Leavitt to answer a round of questions with either the response of “Trump trolling” or “Trump truthing.” He asked Leavitt if Trump was serious about making a 2028 presidential run, which would be prohibited by the Constitution, as he is currently serving his second term.

“Trump trolling, although the hats are flying off the shelves,” Leavitt said in response.
Last week, Trump’s online store began selling hats with the phrase “Trump 2028” written on them. The store was also selling shirts with the same phrase and “Rewrite the Rules” in parentheses. It is a direct violation of the 22nd Amendment for a president to serve more than two terms.
During Tuesday’s press briefing, Leavitt also said Trump was “truthing” about acquiring Greenland and making Canada the 51st state.
“Trump truthing all the way, and the Canadians would benefit greatly. Let me tell you that,” Leavitt said.

The Liberal Party came out on top in Canada’s election on Monday night, with Prime Minister Mark Carney retaining his title and saying Canada will “never” give in to Trump’s threats.
“As I have been warning for months, America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country. But these are not idle threats. President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us,” Carney said. “That will never ever happen.”
