Former President Donald Trump will be releasing a statement regarding “abortion and abortion rights” on Monday morning. Trump posted the news of his announcement on Truth Social late Sunday night.

“I will be putting out my statement on Abortion and Abortion Rights tomorrow morning,” Trump said in his post. “Republicans, and all others, must follow their hearts and minds, but remember that, like Ronald Reagan before me, I, and most other Republicans, believe in EXCEPTIONS for Rape, Incest, and Life of the Mother.”

“Great love and compassion must be shown when even thinking about the subject of LIFE, but at the same time we must use common sense in realizing that we have an obligation to the salvation of our Nation, which is currently in serious DECLINE, TO WIN ELECTIONS, without which we will have nothing other than failure, death, and destruction,” Trump added. “We will not let that happen. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The issue of abortion has been a hotly contested topic in the country, especially since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade in June 2022. Democrats have claimed that efforts to make abortion illegal are an attack on women and reproductive rights. Republicans, meanwhile, have claimed prohibiting abortion is about defending the sanctity of life and protecting the rights of children in the womb.

Regarding abortion, the 45th president has had his share of mixed messaging on the issue in recent years. In January 2020, he attended the annual National March for Life in Washington, D.C., becoming the first sitting president in history ever to participate in the event.

“Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House,” Trump said at the time. “And as the Bible tells us, each person is wonderfully made.”

However, Trump also seemed to pivot from his previous stance and blamed Republican pro-life political messaging as one of the main reasons for GOP election losses in 2022. He also recently called Florida’s recent six-week abortion ban a “terrible thing and a terrible mistake.”

The former president did not specify a time when he would make his statement. However, many will be interested in which position Trump officially takes with his announcement on Monday morning.
