President Donald Trump thanked Iran for providing an early warning of their retaliatory strike against a U.S. base in Qatar and signaled his hope for an off-ramp against further hostilities.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump provided details of the attack, saying U.S. missile defenses intercepted 13 of Iran’s 14 fired missiles, while the remaining one was “set free,” as it didn’t pose a threat to infrastructure or personnel. He added that there were no casualties and “hardly any damage was done.” After mocking the retaliation, the president thanked Iran for providing advance notice to minimize casualties and voiced hope for peace.
